Selection & recruitment
At A Star we operate a five part interview process prior to any individual commencing work.
STEP 1 – Initial telephone assessment
STEP 2 – In depth interviews and ID checks for those who are invited to attend an interview by an experienced trained member of staff
STEP 3 – Reference checked prior to placement
STEP 4 – Full candidate briefing of your requirements
STEP 5 – Aftercare and monitoring
- We aim to hit 96% attendance over a weekly period.
- Attendance is monitored and managed by A Star in conjunction with our customers.
A Star continually advertise and recruit staff, to ensure, should customers require staff at short notice we can supply from a pool that has already been pre-vetted.
A Star WILL out perform any alternative supplier in this area.
Out of hours
A Star operate a 24 hour service.
We have a 24 hour phone line which is always manned by someone who understands your account.
All consultants have access to the A Star computer system, from home, via a secure internet connection which allows us to book staff or find information from home at anytime if the customer requires.
You will not get an answer machine, or a call centre or a person who is just there to take details.
In addition you will have access to the account managers number and the directors number which are both available 24 hours.
A Star can provide t shirts, sweatshirts or overalls for all temps along with standard PPE.
At A Star we realise we are only as good as the temps we provide. We can monitor, encourage and enhance the performance of temps from the performance figures we receive from site on a daily basis.
All the below are for large accounts and accounts managed on site.
Performance can be managed in three ways.
- Time and attendance can be monitored by completion of a Return to work form which are completed after a member of staff has been absent these will be carried out by a member of the A Star Management team
- Disciplinary issues are dealt with through counselling interviews which are conducted based on the nature of the issue.
- The A Star Management team will monitor the shifts performance every two hours and decide appropriate action for under achievers whilst liaising with Management.
When an issue arises regarding shift performance we will place the picker on a performance management programme which involves an interview and daily review of performance for a period of ten shifts.
A Star can produce weekly stats on performance, retention, attendance and sickness on a whole and individual basis. Any of the above can be changed to suit the customers requirements and can be provided in any format required (Appendix 8).
A Star can provide an Account manager. Their role would be to ensure the smooth running of the account and co-ordinate all shifts. They will liaise directly with all shift managers and will be responsible for the day to day running of the account.
Regular meetings with shift managers for performance feedback and improvement ideas would be advisable.
A working team leader can be provided on each shift that will organise, assign equipment and ensure a speedy start to the shift. They will also monitor breaks and punctuality.
