Job Description

A Star Recruitment St Helens Branch are recruiting for a Hire Desk Controller on behalf of our client based in Begwary, Bedford, (MK44).

This is a permanent role.

About the company:

A market leading supplier of non-mechanical products for hire and sale, such as – Portable Trackway, Event Flooring and Commercial and Industrial Matting Solutions both for Sale and Hire. Servicing the Construction, Civil Engineering Utility and Event and Leisure sectors they provide products such as Portable Trackway and Roadways, Wooden Timber Mats, Event Flooring, Non-Slip and Anti-Fatigue Matting, and Pedestrian Walkways.


You’ll be working within a team environment, the role would be in brief;

  • First point of contact for the customer
  • Taking hire enquiries via telephone, email and our online ordering system
  • Checking availability of equipment and ensuring that equipment statuses are always up to date on our systems
  • Coordinating with the customer service and transport teams to ensure that the correct products are ready, arranging delivery to customer sites;
  • Communicating effectively with other colleagues and providing a helpful and friendly point of contact for the depot enquiries;
  • Dealing with any ad-hoc issues that may come your way.

The ideal candidate for Hire Desk Controller would be:

  • Previous experience in a busy hire environment
  • Understanding of plant, equipment tools or material industries
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages
  • CRM systems
  • Good communication skills both orally and written

It is a must to have good IT knowledge, especially in Microsoft Packages and ideally CRM systems.

Excellent communication and Customer Service skills.


£24,000 – £30,000 PA DOE

A Star Recruitment supplied colleagues for assessment during 2017.  The approach from Sue and the team was always friendly and any issues dealt with swiftly and professionally.  From a training aspect I found the colleagues supplied to have been of a very good calibre overall.  During this time only six colleagues didn’t manage to pass the assessments required which for the time scale was excellent, as was the level of service and numbers of colleagues supplied when needed.
